🚀 Why Coders Deserve a Platform of Their Own — Not Just a GitHub Profile

The Open Source Reality
Open source drives the modern internet. Frameworks, libraries, and infrastructure — all shaped by passionate coders around the world.

But the ones who write the code?

They’re often invisible.

Today, a contributor might spend weeks fixing bugs or building critical features, and still go unrecognized. Their GitHub profile reflects commits, not character. Activity graphs, not impact.

This disconnect is exactly what we’re trying to solve.

🧠 The Core Problem
GitHub is great for version control.

LinkedIn is great for resumes.

LeetCode is great for problem-solving.

But none of them are great for coders who want to build in the open, collaborate with others, and be valued for real-world contributions — not just theoretical puzzles or pull requests.

🌱 The Idea Behind Turtal
Turtal isn’t just another tool. It’s a belief:

Coders deserve a platform built around them.

Here’s what we’re building:

Live Collaboration for OSS Projects: Work together in real time. No friction. No context-switching.

Contribution-Based Rankboard: Think beyond followers and stars. Get ranked based on actual open-source impact.

Build in Public, Code Together: Share what you’re building. Learn what others are building. Find synergy, not noise.

We're not a GitHub alternative — we're the missing layer on top of GitHub. A place for coders to be seen, grow, and get rewarded.

💬 What Users Told Us
Our early testers — from students to pro devs — gave us two major insights:

Clarity Wins: Too many disconnected features dilute the mission. So, we’ve removed job boards and bounties to focus entirely on open-source collaboration.

UI Matters: Developers expect minimal, clean, and intuitive tools. We're actively redesigning our MVP for that exact experience.

We listened. We iterated. And we’re just getting started.

🛠️ Why This Matters (Especially Now)
With AI tools accelerating productivity and dev environments evolving rapidly, the coding world is entering a new era.

But one thing hasn’t changed:

The coder is still the center of it all.

We need spaces where the process of building — not just the output — is celebrated.

Where open-source is not just a repo, but a community of co-creators.

Final Thought
Open source doesn’t just need more code.

It needs a better culture for contributors.
Turtal is our answer to that, and we invite you to help us build it.

Let’s make coding social, impactful, and recognized again.
